Academic Programs

Swostishree Gurukul offers the three International Baccalaureate programmes: PYP, MYP and DP. Each programme is designed for a particular age group and developmental stage, providing continuity in students' academic and personal development.

Primary Years Programme (PYP): Ages 3–12

The Primary Years Programme is a student-centred educational framework for children aged 3 to 12. It encourages young learners to take an active role in their education through inquiry, exploration and reflection.

The programme is based on the understanding that children are partners in the learning process. Students are encouraged to ask questions, investigate ideas, make connections and take responsibility for their learning.

Its approach supports the development of:

Conceptual understanding and foundational knowledge
Communication and social skills
Critical and creative thinking
Research and inquiry skills
Self-management and independence
The attributes of the IB Learner Profile

The school also emphasises the developmental needs of children, recognising the importance of cognitive, emotional and physical growth during the early and primary years.

Middle Years Programme (MYP): Ages 11–16

The Middle Years Programme provides a structured learning framework for students aged 11 to 16. It encourages intellectual challenge, critical thinking and connections between academic subjects and real-world contexts.

The programme helps students develop an understanding of how different areas of knowledge relate to one another. It also encourages learners to explore global and local issues, reflect on their experiences and take responsible action.

Communication, intercultural understanding, collaboration and independent inquiry are important components of the MYP.

Through this programme, students are encouraged to become creative, reflective and responsible learners who can apply their knowledge to different situations.

Diploma Programme (DP): Ages 16–19

The IB Diploma Programme is a challenging pre-university course designed for students aged 16 to 19. It provides a broad and academically rigorous education that prepares learners for higher education and future professional pathways.

The programme encourages students to develop research abilities, critical thinking, communication and intercultural understanding.

The DP also emphasises the relationship between classroom learning and real-world applications. Students are encouraged to examine different perspectives, develop independent ideas and engage with complex academic and global issues.

The programme's wider educational objectives include preparing students for university study, personal development and responsible participation in an interconnected world.
