Kathmandu: The Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended the National Private and Boarding Schools’ Association Nepal (N-PABSAN) until further notice, citing repeated failure to comply with government directives and activities contrary to the organisation’s approved constitution and objectives.
In a public notice issued on Friday, the ministry said N-PABSAN had repeatedly failed to follow directives issued under the National Directives Act, 2018, despite being instructed to comply.
According to the notice, the ministry held discussions with concerned stakeholders on October 9, 2026 (Ashoj 23, 2083), and urged the association to implement the directives issued by the ministry on November 28, 2025 (Mangsir 12, 2082). However, the association failed to comply with the instructions.
The ministry stated that N-PABSAN had not only disregarded the directives issued under Section 5 of the Act but that its office-bearers had also carried out activities contrary to the organisation’s government-approved constitution and stated objectives.
Citing the failure to comply with Section 5, the ministry invoked Section 6(2) of the Act to suspend the association until a further decision is made.
The ministry also warned that any group or faction carrying out activities in the name of N-PABSAN following the suspension would be acting illegally and could face action under prevailing laws.
The suspension puts a hold on the association’s activities and its organisational representation until the government makes a further decision.
