The Government of Nepal is set to provide free online artificial intelligence (AI) training to 2,000 young people, aiming to strengthen their digital skills and prepare them for emerging opportunities in the technology-driven world.

The programme, titled “Mastering AI with Effective Prompt Engineering,” is being organised by the National Vocational Training Academy under the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, in collaboration with ING Group and Gyan Bazar Online Pvt. Ltd.

The two-day training programme will take place on November 4 and 5, 2026 (Kartik 18 and 19), through four online sessions. Each session will accommodate 500 participants, bringing the total number of trainees to 2,000.

What Will the Training Cover?

The programme is designed to introduce participants to the practical applications of artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on effective prompt engineering and the use of popular AI tools.

Participants will receive hands-on guidance on using AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude. The training will cover techniques for writing effective prompts and using AI to prepare emails, notes, meeting minutes and presentations.

It will also introduce participants to AI-powered image and short-video creation, responsible use of artificial intelligence, and methods for verifying AI-generated information.

Training Schedule

The training will be conducted in four separate online sessions over two days.

  • Morning session: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

  • Evening session: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Each session will have a capacity of 500 participants.

How to Apply for the Free AI Training

Interested applicants can register online through the government's official Shram Sansar portal:

Registration portal: https://shramsansar.gov.np/

Initially, applications were invited through Google Forms. However, the form was suspended by Google after receiving more than 42,000 applications within 24 hours, reportedly due to concerns related to its service terms and policies.

Following the suspension, the National Vocational Training Academy introduced an alternative registration system through its official government portal.

According to the academy's notice, the application deadline is 3:00 PM on November 3, 2026.

Applicants who had already submitted their applications through the initial registration process do not need to apply again, as their details have been retained. Each applicant is permitted to submit only one application.

Selected participants will receive notifications through SMS.

Government's Focus on Digital Skills

The initiative reflects the government's effort to expand access to emerging technologies and equip young people with skills relevant to the changing employment landscape.

Youth, Labour and Employment Minister Ramji Yadav has emphasised that knowledge and skills related to artificial intelligence should not remain limited to a small group of people. He has highlighted the importance of making technological opportunities accessible to young people across the country.

The ministry is also planning to introduce more advanced AI training programmes through both online and in-person learning opportunities.

The strong response to the initiative, which attracted tens of thousands of applications shortly after registration opened, highlights the growing interest among Nepali youth in acquiring practical AI skills.

The programme is expected to provide participants with an opportunity to explore AI tools, improve their productivity and develop skills that could prove valuable in education, employment and entrepreneurship.
